From here, you can venture out into ten diferent cyber tours.
(and I've switched to jpg files, so it's twice as fast!)
They are all interesting!!! Take a chance!

Each page has 9-10 photos on them, so they take a while to download, but the good news is that you don't have to wait between pictures. I suggest you download a tour and then go prepare a cup of coffee. By the time you come back (depending on the speed of your internet connection), it'll be ready for you.

By the way, I've added music to some of the pages to give you something to listen to as they download. I know--it isn't Mexican or Egyptian music because I haven't found any of that for free on the web yet. If you want good Egyptian music, go to EgyptianMusic.com.
click here for Mexican Street Markets Take a tour of street markets and street vending in Mexico City, with commentary based on 6 years of research with vendors in that city.
Or, take a guided tour of a "souk" (street market) in Cairo, with pictures by Rebeca Cross and discussion based on direct research by John Cross. click here for a Cairene Souk
click here for an Egyptian Bazaar Don't forget to drop by the historic Egyptian Bazaar of Khan il Khalili! The tour bus is leaving soon!
You can also visit a phototour of a Jakarta Street Market submitted by Nina Suwarno
Take a your to Jakarta, Indonesia
Or visit with local market women in Akcakoca in Turkey, based on the PhD dissertation of Hanife Aliefendioglu
click here for family pics in Egypt And now... for something completely different... view some family snapshots with the Informal Family in Cairo--as usual, with commentary (as if you could shut me up!)
China's Vegetable Markets:  From Farmer to Consumer
I highly recommend this site written by someone with a lot of knowledge of the history and role of open air markets in China.
Check out these Phototours with the Informal Family in Egypt
The Informal Family at the Pyramids of Giza
The Informal Family climb Mt. Sinai
The Informal Family at the Beach
The Informal Family in Alexandria
These sites contain LARGE graphics files. Allow plenty of time to download.
Well, I sure hoped you enjoyed your experience!
