I feel comfortable here. I have friends that visit and many repeat customers. I learn about different cultures here. I learned about the Jews who came here and that we are continuing in their tradition. I even learned about Mexican culture here -- I was born and raised in the U.S.. My dad tells me about Mexico using things he sees in the market. I work with my Dad. I translate for him. The money we earn here helps pay for school. I couldn't be going to college now without it. My dad is now unemployed and this really helps a lot. Maxwell Street is not old fashioned. It's learning how to get along with people. We need more of that. What I've learned from working here helps me at school, particularly when I have to work on group projects.
