Dear Sir,

I am typing this quick cybernote to ask you to consider setting aside the maxwell street area as a tribute to the blues artists that this historic area spawned. It is worthwhile knowing that Chicago has a great blues heritage and people will travel to see such sites of cultural significance.

I live in northern Australia near Cairns where your President recently came for a visit and our town survives and thrives on the tourist dollar, people come from all over the world to see our rainforest markets and out famous jabukai Aboriginal dance theatre. Unfortunately the rush to capitalise on this influx of tourists means some of the character of the original tropical architecture has been lost forever.

Make sure this does not happen in Chicago, these historical areas can be an attraction and retain their cultural value. If your University has a Hospitality and Tourism faculty you could even integrate blues tourism into your curriculum, as we have added ecological tourism into our Universities and Educational Institutions.

Yours sincerely

Peter Tosi
