I hear rumors on the net that there are plans in the works to somehow destroy this historic site.
Frankly, I'm puzzled.
Every time I have visited America I've had people come up to me and talk with pride about heritage and national historic monuments - something which I can well understand, since I personally live three houses away from Hans Christian Andersen's house here in Odense, Denmark, one of the biggest sources of foreign currency income in the country, I might add. Maxwell Street is well-known and certainly venerated (legendary, would be the word, I suppose) by millions all over the world and I, for one, would go *far* out of my way to visit. I wouldn't leave without a couple of t-shirts either.
What are you guys thinking of?
