Sir,

I have traveled extensively in the deep south out of respect for the musical and cultural traditions that originated in the Mississippi Delta. I specifically took great interest in the life and legacy of Robert Johnson. I have since developed a great appreciation for bluesmen like Elmore James and Howling' Wolf. This gives me an intense appreciation for the significance of Maxwell Street and its role in the development of modern American music and culture. Consequently, I am outraged to learn of your institution's callous and completely ignorant disregard for its potential to become a cultural mecca like Beale St. in Memphis. It is not what I would expect from an institution of higher learning worthy of the name.

But, frankly, I am not surprised given the absolute subservience of the university system to Corporate America and its rapacious lust for profits. May you and the other corporate puppets responsible for this travesty in the making rot in hell.
