Dear First Lady Hillary Clinton,
As someone with half my family from Polish area of Chicago, as someone with a great deal of respect for the threads of human trials and tribulations that have made this country what it is today, and as a fan of the historical importance - as well as how flat-out soulful the music is, I am joining in the effort to urge you to please get behind the efforts of the Maxwell Street Preservation Coalition and save this unique part of America from a date with a wrecking ball.
I firmly believe it would be a horrible way to start the millennium by destroying what got us all here together.
Sincerely,
Craig A. Meyers Arlington, VA DC Blues Society memberDear Mrs. Clinton,
Maxwell Street is an American Blues Treasure. It is the birthplace of Chicago style blues.
I urge you to join the worldwide effort to save this Blues and immigrant history landmark neighborhood. As we look forward to the next millenium, I think it is critically important that we pause to preserve our heritage for future generations. American is truly a great nation, and the rich tradition of blues music is an important part of who we are as a people.
I have long been an admirer of you and the work you have done for this country. I hope I can count on you to help preserve Maxwell Street.
Sincerely,
Kellie Copeland Tallmadge OHDear First Lady Hillary Clinton,
Help save Maxwell Street. It is an American Blues Treasure in Chicago. It is at great risk of destruction.
Join ongoing worldwide effort to save this Blues and ethnic history landmark neighborhood.
Please investigate this matter and call University of Illinois President James Stukel to tell him to stop the destruction of Maxwell Street.

Sincerely,
Bruce Allen 1st Vice-President St. Catharines & District Labour Council St. Catharines, OntarioP.S. My concern about this subject is rooted in my experiences travelling through the Delta region, including eastern Arkansas, and exploring first hand the history and work of blues performers like Robert Johnson.
