RE: Maxwell Street Historic Preservation District

Dear Chancellor Broski,

With great regret I have read that a historically very important area like "Maxwell Street" is about to be torn down. What always worries me is why do people think that replacing old buildings and streets is new ones is progress.

Especially America should preserve places like Maxwell Street, because it already does not have a culture going back as far as the one in Europe. So please keep what you have got. When we write about blues artists we also mention the famous streets and places where they have played.

I sure hope this means something to you. I support all the preceding writers.

Marion Wijburg,

bluesfan who wants to see Maxwell Street one day and who is certain that many Dutch blues lovers support this letter.
