Hi there,

My name is Wim De Vos, and I'm a Belgian blues musician and great blues lover. And even though I live in Europe, most of the blues music I listen to (and buy) comes out of the USA. America provides the best blues.

As a blues lover, I was in the states last year (May) for the New Orleans Jazz Fest. I visited New Orleans, Vicksburg, Memphis, Nashville.... and I had a great time. Now the reason why I visited these cities, is the value they have in music.... Bourbon Street, Beale Street....... and that's the reason why 1000's of other people go there.

I must admit I never was in Chicago, but I'm planning to go there one day...... for the same reason......THE BLUES !!!

Now I just heard (from somebody in Belgium!!) that there are plans to tear down the Maxwell Street Area. And I just can't believe it. This area must mean something to Chicago. It is part of your culture. How can you destroy something like that?

Instead of tearing it down, you should make it "the place to be" for all music lovers.... and they come from all over the world to the states.

And as they are there, they will spent their money in Chicago.... and I think that is a good thing..... isn't it??

So I would say, just reconsider what you are about to do, and it can save Chicago a beautiful thing and a lot of money.

Greetings,
