Mr. David. C .Broski

The University of Illinois at Chicago

Dear Sir:

I am writing to ask for reconsideration of University Of Illinois' plan to destroy Maxwell Street in Chicago.

It may not look like much to be preserved, but it has been a historic site for African-American culture in the U.S. as this is the place that African American people migrated from the South first started the great Chicago Blues history.

This street contributed so much in the history of modern music. I believe it is precious treasure of the U.S. people and the rest of the world and it should be preserved with honors.

I know there are lots of universities and educational institutes are helping to preserve the historic treasures worldwide, and I think this is another one that needs your help.

I have been there myself, and I would surely be saddened to see it go away. I think there are lots of people who would agree with me in this regard.

PLEASE RECONSIDER THE PLAN OF DESTROYING MAXWELL STREET!

Thanks for your kind attention.

Sincerely,

Masahiro Sumori
