Dear Chancellor Broski:

I urge you to support the establishment of the Maxwell Street Historical District.

Doing so at this time in your history could help convince the residents of the Pilsen community, that UIC can be counted on to cooperate with people who are concerned about the University's expansion plans.

Public recognition of Maxwell Street's important immigrant heritage in the cultural life of and history of Chicago, could begin to establish your integrity among the thousands of Mexican immigrant residents of Pilsen.

As they review the recent past, Pilsen residents have no real reason to believe that you mean them no harm.

You could begin to change your image by creating the Maxwell Street Historical District. I assure you that the rest of the city at large would also be pleased.

Sincerely,

Florence Scala
