Dear Mr. Broski,

As a music enthusiast I feel concerned that the legendary Maxwell Street seems to be threatened. I understand that there are advanced plans of destroying this area and I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to reconsider.

Areas like Maxwell Street are indeed a part of our common heritage. For millions and millions of people, Afro-American music has been the soundtrack to which they grow up and live. Sooner or later these people will take interest in the roots of this music and then places like Maxwell Street should still exist.

I am especially concerned that an intellectual institution like a university takes this drastic action - I would expect the historic values to be of importance!

Regards

Olle Hernegren,
