Dear Chancellor Broski:

Is there still a chance to save a portion of Maxwell Street?

This site holds so many historical memories for so many people that it would be a real loss were it to be obliterated. The market area deserves a kinder fate. Like Beale Street in Memphis, parts of the market can surely be saved.

I pray that the University of Illinois will find it possible to incorporate a Maxwell Street Historic Preservation District into its own development plans.

Sincerely yours,

Robert J. Marx, Rabbi
