Dear Chancellor Broski:

Maxwell Street offers the Great Cities Program a significant opportunity to showcase how the University can help redevelop inner city neighborhoods and create jobs. One of the great tragedies of America is our abandonment of our inner city infra structure and the demolition of what remains of the historic Maxwell Street area will only add to this tragedy.

I strongly encourage the University to insist that the selected developer of this area keep the structures in this historic district and develop ways to redevelop the area that will encourage micro business enterprises as well as celebrate the area's historical aspects.

This kind of redevelopment of the Maxwell Street area would bestow a great achievement upon the Great Cities Program.

Respectfully,

Larry Lund
