Subject: Save Maxwell Street

As a blues player from Minneapolis who occasionally works the Chicago area, I just want to add my support to the Save Maxwell Street project. Too much of our history and heritage disappears in the name of progress. Having traveled abroad, I find myself awed and overwhelmed by the rich history and tradition in European cities. They cherish their roots, their past. You can hear the voices of a city in its buildings, and when you tear them down, you can hear those voices cry...

The next time I'm in Chicago, I don't want to see a new, plastic city. So, I add my voice. Yes, I want a Maxwell Street Historic Preservation District incorporated into the University of Illinois's plans for commercial redevelopment of the Maxwell Street area.

Keep the Blues alive...
