Chicago's Maxwell Street district is of paramount importance to the history of the blues (the backbone of American music) and to African-American culture and history in the city of Chicago. I would like to voice my support for the development of a Maxwell Street Historical Preservation District, to be incorporated into the University of Illinois' plans for the commercial redevelopment of the Maxwell Street area.
