It is with great concern that I read about the threat to the historic Maxwell Street District, and I am writing to you as a professional involved in the heritage preservation community to express my support for the development of a heritage district. As I am sure you are aware, the benefits of a heritage district are multifold, and our foundation has in the past shown how such a district can be developed to the betterment of the social and economic future of an area.
I encourage you and your department to designate Maxwell Street as a unique piece of our shared North American heritage.
