Dear David Broski:
I am concerned of the possible loss of a unique Chicago resource, Maxwell Street. This area has been crucial to my own musical and cultural development, and I regularly send my Chicago based students there for their own education.
I hope you will aid in creating a Maxwell Street Historic Preservation District to be incorporated into The University of Illinois's plans for commercial redevelopment of the Maxwell Street area. My own musical education and cultural understanding would have greatly impoverished without the unique experiences I had at Maxwell Street when I lived in Chicago from 1974-1981, as well as the many visits I've paid since then.
