a joint project of Shanti Foundation for Peace and the Gang Crime Prevention Center.

The student photographers are not gang members but are students at risk. Carlos Gomez, the instructor for this project, told us, "I brought the students to Maxwell Street because it is a living classroom filled with culture and history." --SB


Attorney General Jim Ryan's Student Covenant for the Future Program and Shanti Foundation for Peace invite you to the opening presentation of MAXWELL TIES, original photography by program participants from Kelly High School in Chicago.

Students have worked very hard for the past several months learning the fundamentals of photography and investigative journalism. The focus of this exhibition, Maxwell Street Market, holds historic and cultural significance as a peaceful and fertile center of activity for immigrant groups throughout this century.
