Chancellor David C. Broski, UIC:

As one of the founders of the Methodist Immigrant Defense Fund and as someone who consider itself as a cultural worker I will like to ask you to preserve Maxwell St. as an "open District for Cultural Exchange". The history of the Maxwell St. is the history of a confluence of races, peoples, flavors, languages, and music that have made of it an universal trust for humanity.

I urge you to give it its historic and cultural value and to make of this city one that values more "a culture of being than a culture of having".

Sincerely,

Rev. Franklin Guerrero

Pastor Bethany United Methodist Church
