Dear Chancellor Broski:

I now live in Florida, but grew-up in Chicago. I just heard via the net that Maxwell ST. as it always has is about to be eliminated! How can this happen? Is our society so much against culture and art of our own that they not only regulate it, cut funding and now outright destroy it! I am ashamed to be a part of a society that will allow this to happen.

Maxwell St. and other places around town are the things that I hold with fondest memory when I see a lack in this Florida culture. I want to take my son to Chicago and let him see the places I hold dear to my heart, but how can I when it will be gone?

PLEASE save Maxwell St. I would beg and plead on bended knee if I were before you now...consider it done via cyberspace. Please don't let this tragedy happen. If Maxwell St. goes, what is next? What will be left for our children and grandchildren? Monuments to the dollar and no way of knowing culture, history and the true American soul? IF this is the future for my grandchildren, may God see that I have none.

Sincerely,

Cathy Ann Burton, R.N.C.
