World Blues is a syndicated radio programme that showcases blues talent from around the globe.

Dear Mr Broski

As a life-long blues fan and radio producer of blues music I'm somewhat concerned to hear news that one of the most historical blues areas in the US is under threat. I refer. of course, to the Maxwell Street area in Chicago.

You are no doubt fully aware of the importance of this area to the blues community - not only in the US, but also here in the UK too. My radio programmes represent both blues from the United Kingdom (UK Blues) and blues from the rest of the planet too (World Blues). Without places such as Maxwell Street much of the music I use in my radio programmes simply would not exist.

I understand there are plans to create a Maxwell Street National Historic Blues District. This is a tremendously exciting idea which will attract interest world wide. I'm certain it will encourage many visitors to the area - myself included.

I implore you to do what you can to retrieve the situation and consider plans to preserve Maxwell Street before this part of our blues heritage is lost forever.

Kind regards

Paul
