Free Save Maxwell Street Calendar

A Save Maxwell Street calendar for the year 2000 is available free. This black and white calendar is on one poster sized sheet 11 x 17 inches. It is bordered with the names of Blues musicians who have played on Maxwell Street and has a posterized picture of musicians playing on the corner of Maxwell and Halsted Streets, taken in June of 1999. UK photographers Paul Baldwin and Yussef Nimmer took the picture.

A web-based version of the calendar, smaller and without the border, is available at <www.openair.org/maxwell/cal2000.html>.

The calendar has two contrasting quotes:

Maxwell Street is already a community! Don't let Maxwell Street become "Ground Zero". Get a calendar and raise awareness on this issue.

To get a calendar, send a self-addressed stamped large sized envelope to: Maxwell Street Historic Preservation Coalition c/o Professor Steve Balkin, Roosevelt University, 430 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605

The postage on the self-addressed envelope in the U.S. should be 55 cents.

The poster sized calendar is set up to be a master. We encourage you to make copies to give to people or to sell and make money for your organization or us. The Coalition is an Illinois registered non-profit organization.

You can, of course, just print out the smaller web version, but the larger version is much nicer.
