Images of University of Illinois Board of Trustees Meeting,

September 3, 1998 at the Chicago Illini Union

We (Jimmie Lee Robinson, Bill Lavicka, Bill Wendt, and Steve Balkin) had to formally apply two weeks ahead to speak before the Board of Trustees. We were allowed five minutes each to speak. It was like two ships passing in the night. We had hoped to answer questions and engage in dialogue. None was permitted. Later that afternoon, the Board of Trustees, approved their previous plan for their South campus expansion without any discussion of our presentation or of the issue of historical preservation.
