Vendor Oppression in São Paulo, Brazil

reported by José Luiz Tejon Megido <tejon@listas-amarelas.com.br> Date: Fri, 25 Jul 1997

Today in São Paulo is happening a tremendous march in Paulista avenue, the main avenue here with " camelos " people who lives selling stufs in the streets, poor farmers, homeless ....

The new major in São Paulo launched a new law forbidden people selling in the streets and corners... and all of them are furious.

I think in the new world we will have to harmonize and to help all these people... they are not competitive alone.

The majority of the society is against them... midia including other poor people. Probably they'll became marginals.

Very difficult.

Regards

Tejon
